Russia Bombs Transfiguration cathedral in odesSa while kirill blames constantinople
The irony of being a “state” church was revealed this week when Patriarch Kirill of Moscow condemned the Ecumenical Patriarchate for having “paved the way for ecclesiastical disorder and to the long-term and at present serious persecution of Orthodox Christians within Ukraine” (address to Russian Episcopal Convocation, July 19th). Less than three days later, Russia bombed the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral in Odessa!
The Orthodox Public Affairs Committee (OPAC) continues to express its deep concern over the complicity of the Moscow Patriarchate’s leadership in the war crimes being perpetrated in Ukraine. What is eminently clear is that this leadership is under the total control of the Russian Government and its condemnations of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for Her acknowledgement of Ukrainian Orthodox Christian independence is the height of hypocrisy.
