Hagia Sophia

The seizure of Hagia Sophia and its re-conversion into a mosque was one of the main reasons OPAC was founded, because of the historic and cultural precedents that have been broken by Turkey. This is a principal example of prejudicial and illicit seizure not only of a physical space, but of it representational value. This kind of spiritual ‘theft’ is unacceptable in the modern world and OPAC will oppose it whenever and wherever occurs.
